Time flies when you are having fun

One thing is certain in this world, time does not stop and somehow seems to go faster every year.

It always seemed when you are growing up that time takes forever. It always seemed like forever for the day of school to be over, or for that matter, for the school year to end and get back to summer break.

This was a seemingly true phenomenon in all aspects of life while you are young. Sports seasons seem long, months dragged by, and it took forever for Christmas to come.

This even continued into the teen years. Dating for a month was “like forever”. Waiting for someone to get off the phone was long standing torture.

The older you get….the faster time flies by

It is very apparent when working in the nursing home, all of our residents will tell you that time seems to just fly by each and every year.

They all say how quickly months and years fly by. It is frequently said how major life milestones of their lives feel like it just happened yesterday.

Three seemingly quick years ago……

Three years ago was a significant transition for myself. After spending just over 3 years with a Nationwide therapy company, all of us Therapy Program Managers for the nursing home chain we were working in were called to a last minute zoom meeting.

Over those 3 years we always knew a last minute zoom meeting was always bad news. It was like clockwork. An email shows up to join a meeting and you feel your heart drop. What could we possibly be hearing now? Another pay cut, more layoffs, more responsibility without support?

Suddenly we were told that the contract was ending and there was no news about what our next steps were. We even needed to hold off on telling the therapists that we managed.

Finally it was announced that a newly formed therapy company was taking over. We were the starters, the rookie class, the trailblazers. Continuum Therapy Partners was born. We were part of a new adventure and helping to form the backbone of a new company.

There were definitely some growing pains as we started. Changes in Health insurance, changes in human resources software, and changes in organization.

So as time flies by, we continue to grow. How amazing it is that we have started out as this little group of nine buildings, and as of July first (exactly 3 years later) we are now in ten states. It is amazing to me that when you focus on the most important aspect of a buisness, the people, that all will fall into place. Taking care of the people who take care of you, and always striving to do the right thing can significantly multiply the success. Here is to continued growth and change. The future is wide open
