Christmas in July

Sometimes life gets hard. It seems we always get caught up in the craziness of life and forget to slow down and care for ourselves. It seems that life gets hectic during summer. Between kids out of school, vacations, picnics, family get togethers. We seem to squeeze more and more into the longer days of sunlight.

So what and where did Christmas in July come from?

Most agree that the day was informally started in 1933 in Brevard NC at a girls summer camp. It is told the founder wanted a way for the girls to be able to celebrate Christmas together.

Since then it has slowly morphed into pop culture. Retail companies like to utilize the idea for sales events. Even different countries around the world have developed different traditions over the years to celebrate the event.

But is it actually the real birth of Jesus? Well that question is tough, no one truly knows the actual date. But there are plenty of religious groups and denominations that have begun to start traditions based on Christmas in July.

Sometimes we just need a little christmas

So during the craziness and hectic times of mid summer, we just need a little christmas. It truely makes you feel different. Christmas has a tendency to warm our hearts. It seems to help us to refocus on what is really important and worthwhile.

So let the feeling overwhelm you

So let the feeling of Christmas overcome you. Let good feelings and calmness wash over you. Allow it to infect you and spread joy, happiness, and good will around. Just maybe we can make the world just a little better. Merry Christmas!
