Welcome to Life Lessons from a Nursing Home. This is a personal blog of experiences and insights gained form working as a Physical Therapy Assistant and Director of Rehabilitation in Skilled Nursing Facilities. My name is Jon and I first achieved my Physical Therapy Assistant license in 2004. I started out in outpatient Therapy and decided to relocate to another state. At the time I was able to first find a job in a Skilled Nursing Facility. Initially I assumed I would quickly transition back to Outpatient.
Somehow the more I worked in Geriatrics the more rewarding it became. I would not trade the world for all the experiences and sheer Joy I have found by having personal interactions all week long with the residents I have had the privilege to share time and life with. I have learned some huge life lessons by being a listening ear to someone who wants to share life.
